Shopify SEO services exist because Shopify makes launching a store easy and ranking one harder than it needs to be. The platform generates a sitemap and lets you edit title tags, but it also creates duplicate product URLs, fixed URL prefixes you cannot remove, and themes that slow down with every app you install. Most Shopify stores we audit have good products and a structure search engines struggle to read.
We work as a Shopify SEO agency within our wider SEO services. Our team co-builds AM Jarvis, a SaaS suite for Shopify and WooCommerce stores, so we work with Shopify product data and theme code every week. That matters when a fix needs a Liquid edit or a bulk product update rather than a recommendation in a PDF.
Shopify SEO Problems We Fix
| Shopify behavior | Why it hurts | Our fix |
|---|---|---|
| Products reachable at /products/handle and /collections/name/products/handle | Many themes link to the collection path, so Google finds several URLs for one product and the canonical tag has to do all the work. | Edit product card links in the theme so internal links point to the canonical /products/ URL. |
| Tag pages such as /collections/dresses/blue | Thin near-duplicates that dilute crawl and compete with real collections. | Noindex or disallow tag URLs through the theme and robots.txt.liquid, and build real collections for tags with search demand. |
| Filter parameters from the Search and Discovery app | Every filter combination creates another crawlable URL. | Crawl rules plus dedicated collections for the filters people actually search for. |
| Fixed URL prefixes (/collections/, /products/, /pages/, /blogs/) | They cannot be removed, so URL planning has to work within them. | Short, descriptive handles, and a redirect every time a handle changes. |
| Apps injecting scripts on every page | Slower Largest Contentful Paint and Interaction to Next Paint, plus leftover code after an app is uninstalled. | Audit every script, remove dead app code and load the rest only where it is needed. |
| Collections with only a product grid | Google has little to go on beyond product titles. | Collection intro copy, FAQ blocks stored in metafields, and links between related collections. |
What Our Shopify SEO Services Include
- Theme SEO review. Heading structure, product card links, pagination, breadcrumbs and JSON-LD output across product, collection, blog and page templates.
- Collection strategy. Keyword-mapped collections, including automated collections built from product tags or metafields for queries with real demand.
- Product optimization at scale. Title tags, meta descriptions, alt text and descriptions updated in bulk with preview and undo, starting with best sellers.
- Speed work. App script cleanup, image sizing and lazy-loading rules, with deeper theme work handled by our Shopify speed optimization team.
- Redirect hygiene. Shopify offers to create a redirect when you change a product handle, but not when you delete a product. We keep a redirect map for deletions, merges and collection restructures.
- International setup. Shopify Markets adds hreflang tags for its subfolders and domains. We check in a crawl that every alternate points to a live, indexable URL and that translated content is not left in English.
Shopify Plus SEO
Shopify Plus SEO follows the same rules with more moving parts. Plus brands often run expansion stores for different regions, or a headless front end built with Hydrogen. Each setup changes how URLs, canonicals and hreflang are generated, and one mistake repeats across every market. We review these setups before launch where possible, and after launch we compare what each storefront serves to Googlebot with what shoppers see. Plus merchants planning a larger rebuild can also work with our Shopify Plus development team.
How We Deliver Shopify SEO
- Collaborator access and crawl (week 1). We send a collaborator request that you approve in your Shopify admin and can revoke at any time, so no passwords are shared. Then we crawl the store and pull Search Console data.
- Work on a theme copy (weeks 2 to 6). We duplicate your live theme, make template changes on the copy and preview them before publishing. Your live store is never edited blind.
- Collection and product map (weeks 2 to 4). Keywords are mapped to existing collections, new collections and products. Queries with no suitable page usually become new collections, not blog posts.
- Content and bulk updates (from month 2, ongoing). We write collection copy and rewrite content for best sellers, then apply metadata changes in bulk with a preview and an undo path.
- Report on revenue (every month). Monthly reports tie organic sessions to Shopify orders through GA4, next to Search Console clicks split by collections, products and blog.
Shopify SEO Service Deliverables and Measures of Success
- Theme change log. Every Liquid, section and template edit, with the theme copy it was made on, the publish date and how to roll it back.
- Collection map. Existing collections with their target queries, new collections to create (manual or automated by tag, vendor or metafield), and collections to merge or retire.
- Crawl rules. The robots.txt.liquid changes and noindex rules for tag, filter and search URLs, documented so a future developer understands why they exist.
- App and script audit. Every installed app, what it injects, its effect on speed, and a keep, replace or remove decision.
- Redirect map. All handle changes, product deletions and merges, kept in a sheet you own and loaded into Shopify's URL redirects.
- Monthly report. Organic orders and revenue from GA4, Search Console clicks by collections, products and blog, and the next month's plan.
Early success looks like product duplicates and tag pages dropping out of the index, collections gaining impressions for the queries we mapped, and Core Web Vitals passing on the templates that get the most organic traffic. Later it should show as more organic orders from the collections we work on. We do not promise rankings, but you will always see what changed, when and why.
Shopify SEO Services for DTC, B2B, High-SKU and Headless Stores
The same platform can run very different businesses, and good Shopify SEO experts plan collections and URLs differently for each one.
- DTC brands. A focused catalog where collection copy, product storytelling and brand searches carry most of the weight. Seasonal and limited-run collections need permanent URLs that are updated, not replaced.
- B2B stores. Shopify's B2B features let you show company-specific catalogs and prices to logged-in buyers. We make sure product pages stay visible to search engines without exposing wholesale pricing, and target the part numbers and specifications buyers search for.
- High-SKU catalogs. Thousands of products mean metadata and descriptions have to be handled in bulk, with templates for titles and alt text and hand-written copy reserved for best sellers and key collections.
- Headless storefronts. With Hydrogen or another front end, canonicals, sitemaps, structured data and redirects are no longer handled by the theme, so we check that the new front end recreates each of them.
Shopify SEO Mistakes We See in Most Store Audits
- Changing a handle without the redirect box ticked. Shopify offers to create the redirect, but it is easy to untick, and the old URL then returns a 404.
- Two SEO apps doing the same job. Both write structured data or meta tags, which leaves duplicate Product markup and conflicting titles in the page source.
- Blog posts written for collection keywords. A post titled "best linen dresses" competes with your linen dresses collection instead of supporting it.
- Theme demo content left in place. Placeholder pages, sample blog posts and default homepage titles get indexed and look thin.
- A lazy-loaded hero image. Lazy-loading the largest image above the fold delays Largest Contentful Paint on every collection and product page.
- Uninstalled apps that left code behind. Removing an app does not always remove the snippets it added to your theme files.
Shopify SEO Tools We Use

How to Choose a Shopify SEO Agency or Consultant
When you compare SEO services for Shopify, ask how the provider changes the theme, not only what they recommend. A lot of Shopify SEO work lives in Liquid templates, product card links and robots.txt.liquid, so a provider who only sends a PDF leaves the hard part to your developer.
- Theme workflow. Changes should be made on a duplicate theme and previewed before publishing, with a rollback available.
- Access model. A collaborator account you approve and can revoke, never a shared staff password.
- Store model experience. DTC brands, B2B stores, high-SKU catalogs and headless storefronts each need a different plan for collections and URLs.
- Revenue reporting. Reports should connect organic sessions to Shopify orders, not stop at rankings.
A Shopify SEO consultant who reviews your team's work can be enough if you have an in-house developer. If you do not, you need someone who can make the edits.
| Option | Good for | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| SEO app | Bulk alt text, meta templates and basic schema on a small store. | Cannot decide which collections to build, fix theme links or set crawl rules, and adds its own scripts. |
| Freelance Shopify SEO expert | A defined project, such as a theme audit or a collection rebuild, on a modest budget. | One person's capacity, and coverage gaps across content, development and outreach. |
| Shopify SEO agency | Ongoing work that mixes theme edits, content, bulk product updates and links. | Costs more than an app, and quality depends on who actually works on your store. |
Why Choose 95 Solutions as Your Shopify SEO Expert
- We build Shopify software. AM Jarvis imports, rewrites and bulk edits products for Shopify stores, and scans for Google Merchant Center violations. We know how Shopify stores product data because our own product depends on it.
- Senior and technical. Mustafa has 11+ years in digital marketing and a BS in Computer Science, so theme code and Liquid edits are reviewed by the same person who sets strategy.
- Organic and Shopping work together. Product titles and attributes feed both your rankings and your Google Shopping ads, so we plan changes for both channels.
- You keep everything. Every theme change is documented and stays in your store. The minimum term is three months, billed in USD from our US LLC.
Who Our Shopify SEO Services Are For
A good fit
- Shopify and Shopify Plus stores with steady sales that want organic search to carry more revenue.
- Stores on themes customized over several years, with apps nobody remembers installing.
- Brands expanding with Shopify Markets into the UK, Canada, Australia or the UAE.
- Stores moving to Shopify, where SEO should be part of the Shopify migration plan.
Probably not a fit
- A brand-new store with a handful of products. Our Shopify SEO checklist will cover you for now.
- You want a single SEO app to handle everything.
- You will not allow any theme edits.
Not sure where the problems are? A fixed-price SEO audit or a free marketing audit is a sensible first step. For platform-level crawl and rendering issues, see our technical SEO services, and for multi-platform catalogs, our ecommerce SEO services.
Shopify SEO Pricing
As a Shopify SEO company, we run Shopify work on the same monthly retainer plans as our ecommerce SEO work, with a three-month minimum term. The right plan depends on catalog size, how many collections we actively build and whether link building is included. Costs also rise with heavily customized themes, the number of Shopify Markets or expansion stores, headless front ends that need custom SEO work, and the share of product descriptions that need rewriting rather than bulk metadata updates.
