Technical SEO services deal with everything between your server and a search engine's index. Before a page can rank, Google has to discover it, crawl it, render it, decide it is the canonical version and choose to index it. A failure at any of those steps means the page never competes, however good the content is. Technical problems also do the most damage per mistake: one wrong line in robots.txt or one template carrying a noindex tag can remove whole sections of a site from search. That is why performing an SEO audit of the technical layer is the first thing we do on almost every site.
We handle technical work as part of our wider SEO services, or as a standalone engagement for teams that already have content and outreach covered. Our team wrote the PHP and SQLite CMS that runs this website and Boiler Decoder, including its XML sitemaps, IndexNow pings, JSON-LD output and llms.txt, so our recommendations come from people who have implemented them, not only read about them.
What Our Technical SEO Services Cover
| Area | What we check and fix |
|---|---|
| Crawlability | robots.txt rules, internal link depth, orphan pages, and crawl traps from calendars, parameters and endless filters. |
| Indexing | Page indexing report errors, stray noindex tags, canonical conflicts, soft 404s, duplicate content and index bloat. |
| Rendering | Content and links that only appear after JavaScript runs, checked by comparing raw HTML with rendered HTML. |
| Redirects and status codes | Redirect chains and loops, temporary redirects that should be permanent, 404s with backlinks and intermittent server errors. |
| Site speed | Core Web Vitals (Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift) from field data, fixed at template level. |
| Structured data | Organization, Product, Article, BreadcrumbList and LocalBusiness markup checked against Google's documentation. |
| Site architecture | Click depth to important pages, URL structure, breadcrumbs, pagination and internal links that follow the real category hierarchy. |
| Mobile and security | Mobile-first indexing parity (the same content, links and structured data on mobile as on desktop), HTTPS everywhere and mixed content warnings. |
| International | hreflang return tags, language and region codes, and canonicals that agree across country versions. |
| Sitemaps and discovery | XML sitemaps that list only indexable URLs returning 200, accurate lastmod dates, and IndexNow for Bing and other participating engines. |
What Is a Technical SEO Audit?
A technical SEO audit is a structured check of how search engines crawl, render and index your site, ending in a prioritized list of fixes. Most engagements start with one, bought as a standalone technical SEO audit service or run as month one of a retainer. It is narrower than our full SEO audit services, which also cover content, keywords and links, and it goes deeper into how your site is built and served.
- A full crawl with JavaScript rendering enabled, compared against a raw HTML crawl of the same URLs.
- A review of the Search Console page indexing, Core Web Vitals and crawl stats reports.
- Server log analysis where you can share logs, showing which URLs Googlebot actually requests and how often.
- Findings grouped by template, because one template fix usually resolves hundreds of URLs.
- A prioritized issue list with affected URLs, the fix, the expected effect and an effort estimate.
How We Deliver Technical SEO
- Crawl and compare (weeks 1 to 2). We crawl the site the way Googlebot would and compare what we find with what Google reports in Search Console. The differences point to the real problems: pages we can reach that Google ignores, and indexed pages that should not exist.
- Diagnose by template (weeks 2 to 3). We group issues by the template or system that causes them. A missing canonical on thousands of product pages is one fix, not thousands, and that framing keeps developer time focused.
- Write developer-ready tickets (weeks 3 to 4). Each ticket states the problem, sample URLs, the exact change (a code snippet or a config setting) and how to verify it. Tickets go into your Jira, Linear, Trello or GitHub, not a slide deck.
- Implement or review (months 1 to 3, paced by your release cycle). We make changes directly where we have access and the platform allows it, or we review your developer's pull requests before they ship. Changes to redirects, robots.txt and canonicals are tested on staging first.
- Verify and monitor (after each release, then monthly). After release we recrawl, request indexing for key URLs with the URL Inspection tool and watch the Search Console reports. Monthly monitoring crawls catch regressions introduced by later releases.
Technical SEO Deliverables and How We Measure Success
- Issue register. Every technical issue with affected templates, sample URLs, priority, effort and status, kept up to date as fixes ship.
- Developer tickets. One ticket per fix, with the change, acceptance criteria and a test your QA team can run.
- Crawl comparison. Raw and rendered crawls before and after each release, so you can see that a fix worked and nothing else broke.
- Index coverage tracking. Indexed and excluded page counts by reason from Search Console, tracked month over month.
- Core Web Vitals by template. Field data for the templates that matter, with the specific element causing a slow Largest Contentful Paint or layout shift.
- Release checklist. A short pre-launch list your developers run before every deploy, so robots.txt, canonicals and noindex tags are checked each time.
Success is measured in things you can verify: fewer pages excluded for avoidable reasons, important URLs indexed and served as the canonical, templates passing Core Web Vitals in field data, and no indexing regressions after releases. Those changes give your content and links a fair chance to rank. We do not promise ranking gains from technical work alone, because relevance and authority still decide most positions.
Common Technical SEO Issues by Platform
- Shopify. Duplicate product paths, tag pages and app scripts. Our Shopify SEO services cover these in detail.
- WordPress. Attachment pages on older installs, thin tag and author archives, and two plugins both writing canonical tags. See WordPress SEO.
- JavaScript frameworks. React or Vue sites that render content only in the browser, links built as click handlers without an href, and content loaded on scroll that Googlebot never triggers.
- Custom builds. Missing or stale sitemaps, error pages that return a 200 status, and inconsistent trailing slashes creating duplicate URLs.
- Stores with large catalogs. Faceted navigation and parameter bloat, covered by our ecommerce SEO services.
Planning a replatform, redesign or domain change? That needs a redirect map and pre-launch checks, handled by our SEO migration services.
Mobile SEO Services Within Our Technical SEO Work
Google crawls and indexes sites with its smartphone crawler, so the mobile version of your site is the version that gets ranked. Mobile SEO is therefore part of every technical engagement rather than a separate product. We check that mobile pages carry the same main content, internal links, structured data and meta tags as desktop, which often breaks when a theme hides tabs, accordions or menus on small screens. We also review mobile Core Web Vitals separately, since Search Console reports mobile and desktop on their own, and look for intrusive pop-ups that cover content on arrival, a viewport tag that is missing or wrong, and navigation built in a way crawlers cannot follow.
Technical SEO Mistakes That Remove Pages From Google
Most serious technical losses we investigate come from a short list of avoidable errors, usually introduced during a release rather than by an attack or an algorithm update.
- A staging noindex or robots.txt block shipped to production. Pages start dropping out of the index within days of the crawl.
- Canonical tags pointing every page to the homepage. A template bug tells Google that hundreds of pages are copies of one URL.
- Temporary 302 redirects left in place after a migration. Permanent moves should use 301 or 308 so search engines treat the new URL as the one to keep.
- Blocking CSS or JavaScript files in robots.txt. Google cannot render the page as users see it and may misread its layout and content.
- Links built as buttons with click handlers. Without an href, crawlers cannot follow them, so whole sections become orphaned.
- Soft 404s on empty categories and search pages. Pages that say "no results" but return a 200 status waste crawl and dilute quality signals.

Technical SEO Agency, Freelance Consultant or In-House Developer?
| Option | Works best when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Technical SEO agency | You need an audit, tickets, implementation support and monitoring across many templates or several sites. | Higher monthly cost than a freelancer, so it needs enough technical work to justify it. |
| Freelance technical SEO consultant | Your developers can ship fixes and you need an expert to diagnose problems and review pull requests. | Limited hours, and no backup if that person is unavailable during a launch. |
| In-house developer with SEO training | You release often and want SEO checks built into everyday development. | Developers rarely have time for log analysis, index monitoring and research on top of feature work. |
Many teams combine the second and third options, and that works well. A technical SEO audit company makes most sense when nobody owns SEO requirements, when traffic has dropped and the cause is unclear, or when a migration is coming and mistakes would be expensive.
Why Choose 95 Solutions for Technical SEO
- We build the systems we audit. Our own CMS handles sitemaps, schema, IndexNow and publishing for our sites, and AM Jarvis runs programmatic SEO with a uniqueness gate. We know what is easy to change and what is not.
- Senior and technical. Mustafa holds a BS in Computer Science and has 11+ years in digital marketing. As the technical SEO expert on your account, he reviews every recommendation before it reaches your developers.
- A technical SEO consultant and a delivery team in one. You can use us as a technical SEO agency that ships fixes, or as a reviewer who checks your developers' pull requests.
- Tickets developers respect. Clear scope, sample URLs and a way to verify each fix, so work gets done instead of argued about.
- Working hours that fit your team. Our hours overlap UK business hours and the full US business day, so we can join stand-ups and release calls. You own all code and configuration changes.
Who Needs Technical SEO Services
A good fit
- Sites with thousands of URLs, where small template errors multiply.
- JavaScript-heavy sites and headless builds.
- Sites that lost traffic after a release, redesign or migration.
- In-house development teams that need a technical SEO company to write clear SEO requirements.
- Agencies that need technical depth behind their own brand through our white-label SEO service.
Probably not a fit
- A small brochure site with no indexing problems. On-page SEO is a better use of budget.
- No developer access and no way to deploy changes.
Technical SEO Pricing
Ongoing technical SEO is billed on our monthly SEO retainer with a three-month minimum term. A standalone technical audit is a fixed-price project through our SEO audit plans. What moves the cost is the number of URLs and distinct templates, how much of the site depends on JavaScript rendering, whether server logs are available for analysis, the number of country or language versions, and whether we implement fixes or review your developers' work.
