Marketing Dashboard Builds in Looker Studio

One place to see spend, revenue and the metrics that matter, built on data you can trust and refreshed without anyone copying numbers into a spreadsheet.

We build a marketing dashboard in Looker Studio that pulls GA4, ad platforms, your store and your email platform into one view. It shows blended revenue, spend, MER, acquisition cost and channel performance with written metric definitions, so your team stops arguing about whose numbers are right. The dashboard lives in your Google account and refreshes automatically.

A good marketing dashboard answers a small number of questions quickly: how much did we spend, what did it return, which channels are working, and what changed since last week. Most businesses answer those questions by logging into five platforms and pasting numbers into a spreadsheet, and every platform takes credit for the same sale. We replace that routine with a custom marketing dashboard built in Looker Studio, Google's free reporting tool, fed by your own data and laid out around the decisions your team makes each week.

This service is part of our analytics and tracking services. A marketing analytics dashboard is only as reliable as the tracking under it, so we check the data sources before we design a single chart.

What Is a Marketing Dashboard?

A marketing dashboard is a single report that pulls metrics from your ad platforms, analytics, store and CRM into one view, so you can see spend, results and trends without logging into each tool. It is used for weekly performance reviews, budget decisions between channels, spotting problems early (a campaign that stopped converting, a tracking tag that broke) and reporting to leadership in numbers everyone has agreed on.

The difference between a useful dashboard and a wall of charts is focus. Each page should answer the questions of one audience, with every metric defined and every number traceable to its source.

Marketing Dashboard Examples We Build for Each Team

We usually organize a dashboard into pages, each answering one audience's questions.

PageWho it is forWhat it shows
Executive overviewFounders and leadershipRevenue, total marketing spend, MER, new customers, acquisition cost and trend lines against the previous period and last year.
Channel performanceMarketing managersSessions, conversions and revenue by channel from GA4, next to platform-reported results.
Paid mediaPaid media ownersA marketing campaign dashboard: spend, clicks, conversions, cost per acquisition and ROAS by platform and campaign.
Organic searchSEO ownersSearch Console clicks, impressions, queries and landing pages, joined to GA4 revenue.
EcommerceStore managersOrders, average order value, new versus returning revenue, top products and conversion funnel steps.
Email and SMSRetention ownersFlow and campaign revenue, list growth and revenue per recipient.

Not every business needs all six. A lead-generation company swaps the ecommerce page for a pipeline page fed from its CRM.

How We Build a Looker Studio Dashboard

  1. Agree the questions and definitions (week 1). We start with the decisions the dashboard should support, then write a definition for every metric. "Revenue" might mean net of refunds and excluding tax; "new customer" might mean first order ever. Writing it down ends most reporting arguments.
  2. Check and connect the sources (week 1 to 2). We audit GA4, ad accounts and store data for gaps, then connect them through native connectors, a connector service or BigQuery. If tracking is broken, we tell you before building charts on it.
  3. Model the data (week 2). Blends and calculated fields combine spend from several platforms with revenue from your store. For larger data sets we prepare tables in BigQuery so the report stays fast.
  4. Design and build (weeks 2 to 3). Filters for date, channel and market, comparisons to previous periods, and plain labels. Each chart gets a short note explaining where its number comes from.
  5. Review and hand over (end of week 3). We walk your team through it, adjust anything unclear, set up scheduled email delivery if you want it, and leave a short guide so your editors can add pages later.

A dashboard with three or four sources and a few pages typically takes two to three weeks, including the definitions workshop, data checks and a review round.

Marketing Dashboard Deliverables and Signs It Is Working

  • The Looker Studio report, owned by your Google account, with pages for each audience and filters for date, channel and market.
  • A metric dictionary: every metric's definition, formula, source and refresh timing, kept in a linked Google Sheet or inside the report.
  • A data source register listing each connector, who owns the login, what it costs and what breaks if it is removed.
  • BigQuery documentation, where used: the tables, scheduled queries and their run times.
  • A walkthrough session with your team and a short editing guide for adding pages or charts later.

You will know the dashboard is working when your weekly meeting starts from it instead of from platform screenshots, when dashboard revenue reconciles with the store or CRM within a small, explained gap, and when nobody asks which number is right. If a chart is never used after the first month, we remove it at the review rather than let the report grow cluttered.

Marketing Dashboard Data Sources and Connectors

SourceHow we connect it
GA4, Google Ads, Search Console, YouTube, Google SheetsNative Looker Studio connectors from Google
Meta Ads, TikTok Ads, Microsoft Advertising, LinkedIn AdsPartner connectors such as Supermetrics, Windsor.ai or Porter Metrics, or scheduled loads into BigQuery
Shopify and WooCommercePartner connectors or exports into BigQuery, so revenue comes from the store rather than from ad platforms
Klaviyo and other email platformsPartner connectors or API loads into BigQuery or Google Sheets
CRMs such as HubSpot and SalesforcePartner connectors or scheduled exports for pipeline and closed revenue
GA4 raw event dataThe free GA4 BigQuery export, for custom attribution or very large properties

Partner connectors carry their own subscription fees, which we discuss before choosing one. For some clients a scheduled load into BigQuery costs less over time and removes a dependency.

Metrics That Belong on a Marketing Performance Dashboard

  • MER (marketing efficiency ratio). Total revenue divided by total marketing spend. It ignores attribution arguments and shows whether marketing as a whole is paying off.
  • Blended acquisition cost. Total spend divided by new customers, with new customers defined from store data.
  • Platform ROAS next to GA4 ROAS. Shown side by side, so the gap between what a platform claims and what GA4 attributes is visible rather than hidden.
  • New versus returning revenue. Growth driven only by returning customers looks healthy until acquisition stalls.
  • Contribution after ad spend, where you share product cost data with us, because revenue alone can hide unprofitable growth.

If you want to sanity-check return on ad spend for a single campaign, our ROAS calculator does it in seconds. For choosing which KPIs to report at all, see our KPI dashboard guide.

Why Is Looker Studio So Slow?

Looker Studio is usually slow because every chart sends its own live query to the source, and GA4 and partner connectors answer those queries slowly or hit quota limits. Reports that query GA4 directly can hit Google Analytics Data API quotas, which shows up as charts that fail to load on busy days. Heavy blends, many charts per page and long date ranges make it worse. We reduce that by limiting live GA4 charts, using extracted data sources where freshness allows, and moving heavy reporting to BigQuery. We also set data freshness per source, so spend and revenue update as often as you need without slowing every page.

Keeping dashboard numbers accurate

Accuracy is protected with a reconciliation check: once a month, dashboard revenue is compared with store or CRM revenue for the same period, and any drift is investigated. When numbers stop matching, it is almost always a tracking change on the site, which is why dashboards work best alongside our conversion tracking setup and GA4 setup services.

Marketing Dashboard Mistakes That Make Reports Untrusted

  • Platform revenue added together. Summing Google Ads, Meta and Klaviyo revenue counts the same order several times. Revenue should come from the store or CRM, with platform figures shown separately.
  • No definitions. Two people read "conversions" differently and draw opposite conclusions from the same chart.
  • Too many charts. Pages with thirty widgets are slow to load and hide the three numbers that matter.
  • Inconsistent campaign naming. Blends and channel groupings break when campaigns are named differently on each platform, so we agree a naming convention first.
  • Personal connector logins. When a connector is tied to a former employee's account, the dashboard breaks the day their access is removed.
  • Dates and time zones that do not match. Ad accounts, GA4 and the store often use different time zones, which shifts revenue between days and makes daily charts disagree.

When the real question is which channel deserves credit across a multi-step journey, a dashboard alone will not settle it. Our cross channel attribution service builds that model, and the dashboard then reports it.

Marketing Dashboard Tools: Looker Studio, Power BI and Others

ToolFits best whenTrade-off
Looker StudioYour data sits mostly in Google products, and you want a free tool anyone can editCan be slow with many live connectors; non-Google sources need paid connectors or BigQuery
Looker Studio ProLarger teams that need team workspaces and asset managementA paid license per user per project, with the same charting as the free version
Microsoft Power BI and TableauCompany-wide business intelligence with finance and operations data alongside marketingLicenses, more setup and usually an analyst to maintain them
Platform reports (GA4, Shopify, Klaviyo)A single channel owner checking day-to-day performanceEach one sees only its own data and credits itself for the sale

For most marketing teams, Looker Studio on top of clean data is the practical choice. If your business already reports in Power BI or Tableau, our dashboard development team builds marketing pages there instead.

Looker Studio or a Custom Dashboard?

Looker Studio is the right choice for most marketing teams: it is free, it lives in your Google account, and anyone with access can edit it. It becomes limiting when you need logins for clients, complex permissions, write-back actions or data from internal systems. In those cases our dashboard development team builds a custom application instead.

Why Choose 95 Solutions for Your Marketing Dashboard

  • Built by marketers who use dashboards. Mustafa leads every account and has 11+ years in digital marketing, so the dashboard reflects the decisions a marketing lead actually makes each week.
  • Reporting we run for ourselves. Our own CMS includes Search Console keyword reporting and cookie-free analytics, so data definitions and reconciliation are problems we solve on our own sites.
  • Yours from day one. The dashboard, data sources and any BigQuery project sit in your Google account.
  • Straightforward terms. Fixed-price builds from a US LLC, invoiced in USD, with hours that overlap US and UK business days.

Who Needs a Marketing Reporting Dashboard

A good fit: brands running two or more paid channels plus email, founders who want one weekly marketing dashboard instead of five platform logins, and agencies or in-house teams tired of manual reporting.

Probably not a fit: businesses with a single channel whose platform reports already answer their questions, or teams whose tracking is known to be broken and who do not want to fix it first. Clean tracking comes before any dashboard, and our Google Tag Manager consultant service is often the first step.

Marketing Dashboard Pricing

Each marketing dashboard is a fixed-price build under the Looker Studio Dashboard plan, with the price set by the number of sources and pages, whether data needs modeling in BigQuery, how many brands or markets are included, and whether tracking fixes are needed first. Looker Studio pricing itself is simple: the tool is free, and Looker Studio Pro is an optional paid upgrade. Connector subscriptions, if needed, are billed by the connector provider directly to you.

Marketing Dashboards questions

What is Looker Studio?
Looker Studio is Google's free, browser-based reporting tool, formerly called Google Data Studio. It connects to data sources such as GA4, Google Ads, Search Console, Google Sheets and BigQuery, and turns them into interactive reports with charts, tables and filters. Reports live in Google Drive, can be shared like a Google Doc, and refresh from the source data, so nobody has to copy numbers by hand.
Is Looker Studio free?
Yes, Looker Studio itself is free, and Google's native connectors for GA4, Google Ads, Search Console and Sheets cost nothing. Connectors for non-Google platforms such as Meta Ads or Shopify usually come from paid partner services, and BigQuery has usage-based costs that stay low for most marketing data. Looker Studio Pro is a paid upgrade, billed per user per project, for teams needing team workspaces and extra management features.
What are the three types of dashboards?
The three common types are strategic, operational and analytical. A strategic dashboard shows a few top-line numbers for leadership, such as revenue, spend and MER against targets. An operational dashboard tracks day-to-day activity, such as campaign spend pacing or yesterday's orders. An analytical dashboard lets someone dig into causes with filters and breakdowns. Most marketing dashboards we build combine all three as separate pages for different readers.
Can you give me an example of a marketing dashboard?
A typical example for an online store has an executive page showing revenue, total marketing spend, MER, new customers and acquisition cost against last month and last year. A paid media page breaks spend, conversions and ROAS down by platform and campaign, an organic page joins Search Console queries to GA4 revenue, and an email page shows flow and campaign revenue with list growth. A lead-generation company swaps the store page for a pipeline page fed from its CRM.
What is the best marketing analytics dashboard?
The best marketing analytics dashboard is the one your team actually uses each week, built on revenue from your store or CRM rather than on figures each ad platform claims for itself. For most small and mid-sized marketing teams, Looker Studio is the practical tool because it is free and connects natively to GA4, Google Ads and Search Console. Companies already standardized on Power BI or Tableau usually do better keeping marketing reporting there.
How do you blend data in Looker Studio?
Select two or more charts or data sources, choose Blend data, then pick the join keys (usually date, plus a field such as campaign or channel) and the join type. Looker Studio supports up to five sources per blend. Keys must match exactly, so campaign names often need cleaning first. For large or frequently used blends, we join the data in BigQuery instead, which is faster and easier to audit.
