Website redesign services are usually bought for the wrong reason: the site looks old. Looks matter, but the costly problems are usually underneath. Pages load slowly on phones, the team needs a developer to change a headline, the navigation no longer matches what you sell, and nobody trusts the analytics. A redesign should fix those problems while keeping the parts of the old site that still bring in visitors and inquiries.
As a website redesign agency that also runs SEO and paid media, we treat your current site as a source of evidence, not something to throw away. Before anyone opens Figma, we look at which pages rank, which earn links, where visitors drop off and which forms produce real leads. The new site is built around those answers, as part of our wider web development services.
What Our Website Redesign Services Include
- Performance and SEO baseline. A record of current traffic, rankings, conversions and page speed, so you can compare the new site against real numbers after launch.
- Content audit. A page-by-page decision to keep, improve, merge or remove, based on traffic, links and business value.
- Information architecture. New navigation, page hierarchy and internal linking built around how your customers search and buy.
- Design system. A set of Figma components and templates your team can reuse, instead of one-off page designs.
- Development and content migration. The new site built on staging, with content moved, cleaned up and formatted.
- Redirects, tracking and launch. A tested redirect map, rebuilt GA4 and Google Tag Manager setup, and monitoring through the weeks after launch.
When Is It Time to Redesign Your Website?
It is time to redesign your website when the site itself is holding back sales or leads, not simply when it feels old. These are the signals we look for in your data and your team's day-to-day work:
- Mobile performance is poor. Core Web Vitals fail in Search Console, and mobile visitors convert far below desktop visitors on the same pages.
- Editing needs a developer. Your team cannot publish a page, change a headline or launch a campaign page without opening a ticket.
- The structure no longer matches the business. New services or product lines are buried, and navigation reflects how the company was organized years ago.
- Leads have dropped while traffic held. People still arrive but fewer contact you, which points to content, forms or trust signals rather than SEO.
- The platform is a liability. Unsupported themes, abandoned plugins or a builder you cannot extend make every change risky.
Before you brief a website redesign company, write down the two or three problems above that apply to you. That list keeps the project focused on outcomes instead of taste.
Redesign, Refresh or Rebuild?
Not every site needs full web redesign services. We start by working out which of three routes fits your situation.
| Route | What changes | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Refresh | Visual styling, key page layouts and copy on the same platform and URLs. | The structure works and the platform is healthy, but the site looks dated or off-brand. |
| Redesign | Design, navigation, content structure and templates, usually on the same platform. | The site no longer matches what you sell, converts poorly or is hard for your team to edit. |
| Rebuild or replatform | Everything above plus a move to a new platform, such as WordPress to Webflow or WooCommerce to Shopify. | The platform itself is the problem: slow, insecure, expensive to maintain or missing features you need. |
A replatform adds the most risk to search traffic, so it comes with the deepest redirect and content work. For stores moving platforms, see our Shopify development agency page, and for marketing sites our WordPress development and Webflow development pages.
How We Run a Website Redesign
- Baseline and audit (1 to 2 weeks). We crawl the current site with Screaming Frog, export Search Console and GA4 data, and list every URL with its traffic, rankings, backlinks and conversions. This baseline becomes the checklist the new site is measured against.
- Strategy and structure (about 1 week). We agree goals, audiences and priority pages, then build the new sitemap and the content decision for every existing URL: keep, improve, merge, redirect or retire.
- Wireframes and design (2 to 3 weeks). Key templates are wireframed, then designed in Figma for mobile and desktop. You review with comments in one place, and designs are approved before development.
- Build on staging (2 to 4 weeks). We develop the site on a protected staging environment, migrate content, and apply titles, meta descriptions, headings and structured data page by page.
- Pre-launch testing (about 1 week). We test forms, speed, mobile layouts and tracking, then crawl the staging site and check every old URL against the redirect map before anything goes live.
- Launch and monitoring (launch day, then 4 to 6 weeks). We launch at a quiet time, submit the new sitemap, then track rankings, 404 errors, indexing and conversions against the baseline for the following weeks.
Most redesigns run 6 to 10 weeks from signed scope to launch, and the audit phase is the part we never skip.
Protecting SEO During a Website Redesign
The most expensive redesign mistakes are invisible on launch day. Pages that ranked are removed because they looked thin, URLs change without redirects, internal links point to old addresses, or a staging site's noindex tag is carried into production. Traffic then drifts down for weeks before anyone links it to the redesign.
We prevent this with a URL-level plan: every old address has a new destination, redirects are single hops, content that ranks keeps its topic and headings, and we compare crawls before and after launch. Sites with large organic traffic or complex URL changes can add our SEO migration service for deeper ranking and log checks. If you want to plan internally first, our website redesign checklist covers the steps in order.
Website Redesign Deliverables and Measures of Success
A redesign hands you working documents as well as a new site. You receive the baseline report, the content decision sheet for every old URL, the approved Figma files and component library, the redirect map, the code or theme in your own repository, and recorded editor training.
Success is measured against that baseline, using checks you can repeat yourself:
- Every URL with traffic, links or conversions resolves with a single 301 or keeps its address.
- Key templates pass Core Web Vitals on mobile, where the old site did not.
- Form submissions, calls and purchases are tracked once each in GA4, and match what your team receives.
- Organic sessions and rankings for priority pages are compared with the baseline at regular points over the following weeks.
- Your team can publish and edit pages without a developer.
Website Redesign Cost: What Moves the Number
Website redesign cost is set by scope, not by page count alone. These are the factors that move a quote up or down:
- Unique templates. Twenty service pages built from one template cost far less than ten pages with ten different layouts.
- Content work. Moving existing copy is quick. Rewriting, merging pages or producing new photography adds time.
- Platform change. Staying on the same platform is cheapest. A replatform adds data migration, a full redirect map and more testing.
- Integrations. CRM forms, booking tools, member areas, search and ecommerce each add build and test time.
- Volume of URLs. A site with thousands of indexed URLs needs more redirect and crawl work than a twenty-page brochure site.
Website Redesign Agency, Freelancer or Theme Refresh?
| Route | Suits | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Do-it-yourself theme refresh | Small sites with little search traffic where the structure already works. | Changing URLs or removing pages without redirects, which is easy to do by accident. |
| Freelance designer | A visual update to a handful of templates on a healthy platform. | SEO baselines, redirects and tracking are often outside the brief. |
| Website redesign company | Sites that earn leads or rankings, need new structure or are changing platform. | Ask to see the baseline and redirect process before you sign, not after. |
Website Redesign Tools We Use

Sites That Benefit Most From a Redesign
A good fit
- Businesses whose site ranks and brings leads but looks dated, loads slowly or is hard to edit.
- Companies whose services or products have changed and whose website no longer explains them.
- B2B firms with complex offers that need clearer structure; see our B2B website design service.
- Teams running paid campaigns who also need stronger landing pages as part of the new site.
Probably not a fit
- Sites that only need a new color scheme and logo swap. A theme refresh is cheaper.
- Projects that must launch in two weeks with no time for audit or review.
- Anyone expecting a redesign alone to guarantee more traffic or leads. It removes obstacles; it does not replace ongoing marketing.
